Appointment Information

The health service has faced many challenges since the start of the Covid19 pandemic and at South Street Surgery we have risen to the many challenges and continue to do so. We strive to provide safe, high quality care to our patients and our systems and processes have needed to evolve in order for us to do this.

We have been providing a range of appointment types including telephone, online and face-to-face. There has been a need to triage all patients before face-to-face GP appointments rather than patients booking face to face appointments directly. This also helps us to prioritise patients based on clinical need. Patients who need to be seen for a face-to-face assessment or examination are booked into a face-to-face appointment. We have been providing face to face appointments when there is a clinical need throughout the pandemic.

We also provide Online consultations. We are currently using a system called e-consult which is used by all practices in East and North Hertfordshire. Please use this system if you are able for any non-urgent clinical and administrative needs. We will get back to you with a response which may be a phone call to discuss your condition or query, a message, or an appointment. A face-to-face appointment will be booked if needed. We provide telephone consultations for those who cannot use online consultations and those who have an urgent problem.

We are in the process of reviewing our appointments systems and will provide further updates on our website and Facebook page. We are aware that some patients prefer face to face appointments others prefer telephone consultations or online systems. We are looking at how we can develop a system that works for all and are working with our patient group. Unfortunately, we cannot go back to the full old system and continue the new system and are working to develop a system that enables the right balance of different appointment types.
