GP Surgery, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire

Do you have excellent customer service skills and thrive in a busy environment?
We are looking for 2 part time receptionists (Tues, Thurs & Fri am and Tuesday & Thursday) for up to join our large, friendly GP Surgery.

You will handle telephone calls in a positive and efficient manner; assist with front desk duties and general administration. You need to be available to start at 8am on some days and will be required to work Saturday mornings on a rota basis. Reception and Customer Service experience preferred.

South Street Surgery operates from two premises in the town of Bishops Stortford, providing services for about 20,000 patients. We provide services during normal working hours and offer extended hours’ appointments. We have GPs with special interests in orthopaedics and dermatology, and our experienced nursing team also have areas of special interest. Our Partnership team includes a GP board member for East and North Hertfordshire CCG, the Chair of our local GP Federation and our LMC area representative. We work closely with the other practices in Bishops Stortford to develop our vision for the future of Primary Care Services in this area.

Practice Nurse Vacancy

Full Time (part time considered)

Salary: Dependent on experience

An experienced Practice Nurse is currently required to join our practice team. We are an innovative forward thinking practice with a strong reputation for training. You will be working alongside our GPs, Nurses, HCAs and Pharmacist.

South Street Surgery has been rated as ‘Good’ by CQC on our last inspections. We have consistently been a high QOF achieving surgery. South Street has Investors in People Award, and believes in training and developing our staff. Our surgeries have many years’ experience of teaching, training and developing our staff and trainees. We have GP Trainers and Associate Trainers and we enjoy teaching our GP Registrars, Foundation Doctors, Medical students and Physician Associate students.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about developing their career in General Practice further.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working as a Practice Nurse
  • A high level of organisational skills
  • A strong team working skills
  • Experience in chronic disease management
  • A qualification in minor illness or an enthusiasm to complete this
  • Be required to fulfil all other responsibilities for this post.

Independent prescribing is an advantage but training can be offered to the right candidate.

Practice Workflow Administrator

Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

We are looking for a Practice Workflow Team Leader to join our large GP practice in Bishops Stortford. Ideally you will have experience of working in General Practice with good working knowledge of SystmOne and have an interest in IT systems. Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous but training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for career progression.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, meet deadlines, have excellent attention to detail and be able to lead the workflow team. The areas of responsibility are to provide operational supervision and distribute workload of the workflow team to ensure efficient and timely completion of workflow (scanning & coding) and patient registrations administration. You will also assist with completion of all workflow and registration procedures and provide back-up as required. You will also work closely with our Data Lead and provide support for new starters accessing our IT systems, and handle Smartcard administration.

Pharmacist Vacancy

Central Surgery and South Street Surgery
Full-time
Salary: £47,000 – £54,000 depending on experience

Are you looking for a new challenge to apply your existing clinical skills whilst developing a new skill set?

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive pharmacist to deliver medicines optimisation services, improve patient outcomes and support and shape the primary care workforce.

You will based between the two surgeries, working closely with our established clinical pharmacist and will be part of the practice multidisciplinary teams which include GPs, Nurses and HCAs. The role includes:

  • Providing patient consultations in area of competence
  • Face-to-face or phone medicines reviews with patients
  • Medicines reconciliation following discharge from hospital
  • Support the practice staff with the roll out of CCG Prescribing initiatives
  • Liaising with Community Pharmacists and Care Home Staff
  • Provide Leadership on Medicines Optimisation
  • Attendance at Locality based prescribing meetings

Education and training will be provided to support your continual professional development to fulfil these roles.

Core Skills required include:

  • High level of organisational skills
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a pharmacist
  • Hold an independent prescribing qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to prioritise and organise workload
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Hold a clinical pharmacy qualification and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Ideally have experience working in Primary Care
